The Bahari Sea is an area in Bahari Bay in Palia, although it is not marked on its map. The sea is surrounding at least parts of Bahari Island, where Kilima Valley, Bahari Bay, Elderwood and the Royal Highlands are located.
Description
The Bahari Sea is the largest body of water in Bahari Bay. In the north-east of the bay, two rivers are running into the sea above Coral Shores. Other natural features along the coast are the inlet at Lighthouse Lagoon and the bay at Beachcomber Cove. The flatcoast of Bahari Bay is made up of shallow waters, beaches, sandbars and small islands. The abandoned Old Lighthouse watches over the sea in the bay, perched on a cliff above the wooden docks that are no longer in use today.
The sea has washed driftwood and old boat parts ashore. They are a testament of the dangers of sailing Bahari Sea: Pirates continue to pose a threat and in the past, Eshelon was shipwrecked after a storm, while a ship carrying Reth's and Tish's parents never returned.
The Bahari Sea is an important trade route and a big trade port in Bahari City connects Bahari Island with the rest of the Palia.
History
As early as the time of the Ancient Humans, people were already sailing the Bahari Sea. They built a shipyard in what is now known as Beachcomber Cove, a bridge across the sea in north-eastern Bahari Bay and furthermore the Ancient Aqueduct, whose remains still jut out into the sea. In the period shortly before the collapse of the Ancient Humans, some of them left the region by ship hoping to make a fresh start elsewhere.
Much later, Prismbeard, the famous Grimalkin pirate, sailed the Bahari Sea with his crew. After meeting Kamila in Bahari Bay, they often set up camp along the shores of the sea while they searched for the vault of Grimalkus.
At some point before the Player's arrival, trade ships used to frequently pass Bahari Bay and often stopped at the docks to acquire permission to sail to certain destinations from Faadhil, the last keeper of the Old Lighthouse. Back then, ships bound for Bahari City departed from or called at far-away locations, such as Barafuu, Inyrevn and Makuu City.
Before Zeki moved to Kilima Valley, he sailed the seas with his apprentice Zoraya. After they had successfully raided Zurian's Vault, Zeki was betrayed by Zoraya, who sank his ship. While most of the treasures are at the bottom of the Bahari Sea, the player can find some of them in Rummage Piles in Bahari Bay.
Location
On Bahari Island, the Bahari Sea lies on the eastern side of Bahari Bay. Furthermore, Bahari City, located north-east of Kilima Valley, has a large seaport, and Faadhil wrote, that he could watch the ships setting sail from there.
Other regions located in the sea are the Flamewynde Isles in the eastern Bahari Sea, and likely Inyrevn. Since the Ribbontail Ray migrated from Inyrevn to the west coast of Palia and can be caught off the coast of Bahari Bay, the isles of Inyrevn are either located in the Bahari Sea or may be part of the same ocean. In addition, bottle messages thrown into the sea in Bahari Bay, can reach someone located in Inyrevn.
