Crab Wars Event (Event)

Description

This multiplayer server-wide event requires players to gather at the shore of the Royal Highlands and pick a rivalling side: The Frogs, led by King Hoppington XIV, or the Crabs, led by General Crabjorn Snips. The goal is to catch as many crabs or frogs as possible, with all participating players earning prizes depending on which side wins. If the Frogs team wins, prizes will be crab-themed spoils. If the Crabs team wins, prizes will be frog-themed spoils.

Etiquette

Unlike other dynamic cooperative events, it's unnecessary for players to call out when or where Crab Wars is about to begin, as it has a set location and time, and server-wide reminders will appear to signal the start of the event.

Pressuring other players to pick a certain team is frowned upon. If you need a specific item that requires a certain side to win, asking others politely or attempting Crab Wars multiple times may be necessary.

Location

Crab Wars appears only at a fixed location in the Royal Highlands every day. The event spans across the southern half of the coordinates C9 and D9, at the Black Sand Beach along the shores of the Royal Highlands Bay.

Time

The event officially starts at 7:00 AM Game Time and repeats daily. It has a time limit of 4 real-life minutes, signalled by a timer at the top of the screen when within the event range. After the timer runs out, a chest will appear at the center of the battlefield, rewarding players with themed spoils.

When within a certain range of the location of Crab Wars, a banner will appear at the top of the game screen with a random text to signal the impending start of the event. This banner appears at around 6:10 AM Game Time before the event begins, giving players plenty of time to arrive before start. Additionally, if the player is out of range for this banner to appear, an icon of a Bahari Crab will appear on the compass and map in the location where the event takes place.

How to Play

Objective

Players must use Smoke Bombs to capture either frogs or crabs when the event starts. Players can pick a specific team, or can catch any critter they'd like without picking a team. The goal for each team is to catch as many critters of the opposing team before the 4-minute timer runs out. At the end of the event, a chest will appear in the middle of the beach for players to collect their spoils. This chest will remain for a few minutes before eventually despawning, so remember to collect your prizes before leaving!

Frogs

Those on the Frogs team must capture Crabs in order to win points for the Frogs team.
Any Crabs captured will reward Amber Echo when picked up by the player.
If the Frogs team wins, the reward chest at the end of the event will give players a crab-themed prize.

Crabs

Those on the Crabs team must capture Frogs in order to win points for the Crabs team.
Any Frogs captured will reward Gold when picked up by the player.
If the Crabs team wins, the reward chest at the end of the event will give players a frog-themed prize.

Tips and Tricks

Make sure to stock up on your choice of Smoke Bombs before the event.
Spreading out across the field rather than having multiple players focusing in one area can help collect more points for your team.
Being in a party can boost rewards received from picking up stunned crabs or frogs. If you need some extra Amber Echo or Gold, make sure to party up!
Catching even one frog or crab counts as participation for the event. If you do not catch anything during the event, the chest will still appear, but you will be unable to open it.
Catching the lower tier frogs and crabs ( Grumpy Granite Rockhopper and Bahari Crab) is much easier and requires less smoke bombs than catching their higher tier counterparts. Focusing on catching these creatures can help rack up points for your team much quicker and easier.

Possible Rewards

Participating in the event can grant players with a variety of possible prizes, received at random. While the prize chest at the end of the event will always give players a prize, very rarely it is possible to receive a decor piece from one of the stunned critters when picked up.

Banner Text

A few minutes before the start of the event, a banner will appear at the top of the game screen if the player is close to the location of Crab Wars. The following are examples of banner text that has a chance to appear:

The rockhoppers have crossed the Kestra... War shall soon be upon us.
The rockhoppers thirst for gold!

Notes

From the dates July 6th, 2026 to August (TBA), 2026, Crab Shells could be obtained from the prize chest at the end of the Crab Wars event.
